CULTURAL NOTES: Did you know that the majority of stores closes during lunch time, from 1 P.M. to 3 P.M.? The usual hours of operation are from 8 A.M. to 1 P.M. and from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. However, the banking hours of major commercial banks vary depending on the country. For instance, in Peru the hours are from 8:30 A.M. to 12 noon (only half day of work). On the other hand, in Argentina, the hours are from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M.( a full day!!!). Commercial banks in Uruguay open only in the afternoons: 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. In other countries, such as Spain, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, the banking hours range from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M.
